What is your area of interest and how did you get started with it?
It all goes back to my roots. Growing up on a small livestock farm in Southern Maine is where my passion and interest for livestock and production agriculture started. Being involved in many youth organizations and associations such as 4-H and Junior Simmental and Angus breed associations sparked my interest to further my education and find a career within the agricultural industry.
What is your role with UConn Extension?
My role with UConn Extension involves planning, implementing, and evaluating impactful extension programs primarily related to commercial livestock production. Livestock species include but not limited to beef, sheep, swine and goats.
What excites you the most about working with UConn Extension?
Working with and meeting many different people from all different backgrounds in Connecticut who also have the same interest in livestock and production agriculture.
What is one thing you hope people will learn from you and your work?
My hope is that producers find my work useful and applicable for both them and their operations. I hope to cultivate strong connections and relationships with producers in Connecticut, making enough of an impact for them to continuously turn to me for support not only as a resource but also an advocate.
What is your favorite thing to do in Connecticut?
Enjoying all that Connecticut has to offer with my family and friends.
What are some of your hobbies and other interests?
Owning and operating a farm becomes your main hobby! However, I wouldn’t trade this lifestyle or where we raise our family for the world.
