UConn College of Engineering and College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, are developing a project-based learning curriculum that connects farmers to a collaborative team of students, faculty, Extension, and agriculture service providers, to help bring your ideas to fruition.
Do you have an idea for a new tool, or a way to scale down larger farm equipment for the small farmer, but need some support in designing it?
Have you already built something, but want to make it more durable?
Do you have an idea for a farm management tracking system, but need computer science expertise to implement?
Are you thinking about upgrading infrastructure on your farm, such as a composting, anerobic digesters, runoff management, water treatment systems, renewable energy, etc. but need a team to evaluate ideas?

Bring us your Innovative idea that we can develop and you’ll receive:
A participant stipend is available to support your time investment over the course of the nine month academic year. The time frame where most of your effort is expected is approximately October 2024 through March 2025.
Technical support and financial resources are available to support supplies or other needs for the project (up to $2000).
Expected from you:
Weekly or twice monthly meetings between you and the student team (3-5 engineering and agriculture students) virtually or in person as needed
Participation in surveys and an interview related to your experience so that we can improve this program in the future
Participation in Farm Hack event if relevant for your project (hosted by New CT Farmer in late January each year)

¿Está pensando en mejorar la infraestructura de su granja, como compostaje, digestores anaeróbicos, gestión de escorrentías, sistemas de tratamiento de agua, energía renovable, etc. pero necesita un equipo para evaluar ideas?

Un estipendio de participante está disponible para respaldar su inversión de tiempo durante el transcurso del año académico de nueve meses. El período de tiempo en el que se espera la mayor parte de su esfuerzo es aproximadamente desde octubre de 2024 hasta marzo de 2025.
Se dispone de apoyo técnico y recursos financieros para respaldar los suministros u otras necesidades del proyecto (hasta $2000).
EXPECTATIVAS DEL AGRICULTOR:
Reuniones semanales o dos veces al mes entre usted y el equipo de estudiantes (3-5 estudiantes de ingeniería y agricultura) virtualmente o en persona según sea necesario
Participación en encuestas y una entrevista relacionada con tu experiencia para que podamos mejorar este programa en el futuro.
Participación en el evento Farm Hack si es relevante para su proyecto (organizado por New CT Farmer a finales de enero de cada año)
