About Extension

UConn Extension connects the University of Connecticut’s research, knowledge, and resources with communities across the state. Through programs in agriculture, food, health, environment, and youth development, we provide answers you can trust and work collaboratively with you to create new solutions to help individuals, families, businesses, and communities thrive.

Extension is part of UConn’s College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources (CAHNR) and has been serving Connecticut residents since 1914. Our educators live and work in communities statewide, offering trusted, research-based information that improves lives and strengthens our state.

Leadership

UConn Extension is guided by a leadership team that ensures our programs remain effective, accessible, and responsive to community needs:

  • Amy Harder, Associate Dean and Associate Director for Extension – Provides overall vision and leadership for UConn Extension, manages funding, and builds statewide and national partnerships.
  • Bonnie Burr, Assistant Director and Head of the Department of Extension – In her role as Assistant Director, supports volunteers, community partnerships, safety, and legislative engagement. In her role as Department Head, she lversees faculty, staff, and Extension Centers across the state, and ensures programs have the resources they need to succeed.

Together, this team helps Extension deliver practical, research-based solutions to strengthen Connecticut communities.
